A 16-year-old boy is currently assisting the police in an investigation after being caught throwing ofo and oBike bicycles into a river at Lorong Halus Bridge in 2 different videos.

The incident happened on Monday when a group of 10 youths was hanging around Lorong Halus Bridge. A boy was then dared by his friends to throw a damaged ofo bicycle down the river.

The entire process was captured by one of his friend, who posted in on Instagram’s story. He was also caught smoking a cigarette in the video.

The original video on Instagram was deleted by his friends within 30mins of the incident, however, it was already shared on many other social media platforms.

Not long after, a second video of the same boy throwing an oBike down at the same location was posted and went around social media. That incident happened more than a year ago.

In an interview with TNP, the boy explained, “My friends kept chanting and pressuring me to throw the bike into the water. I should have ignored my friends instead of listening to them.”

He promised that this would not happen again and that the situation has given him a lot of stress with the attention of the public.

A police spokesman confirmed a report has been lodged and that they are investigating.
