17-year-old PR convicted of alleged rape of 53-year-old woman

Mendel See, 17, has been charged for allegedly raping a 53-year-old lady. See also allegedly strangled the victim and held a chopper on her neck while he forced himself on her.

Prior to the alleged rape, Mendel See and two other accomplices, Benjamin Yong, 22, and Chow Chia Suan, 23, had reportedly robbed the victim in a flat at Yishun. $700 worth of phones, cigarettes, and cash were taken.

This is not the first time that See, Yong and Chow are involved in an armed alleged robbery. In September 2017, they broke into an apartment at Canberra Drive where they took the mobile phone and cash of the victim which amount to $670.

See can be sentenced as an adult as he is above 16 years old, but he is still eligible for reformative training as he is under 21 years old.

For the offense of causing hurt in a robbery and the offense of rape, he will be facing a jail sentence of 25  years and 24 strokes of the cane.

Chow cannot be caned as she is a woman.
