500 Canadian Doctors protest own pay raise
More than 500 doctors, as well as over 150 medical students in Canada, have signed a public letter to protest their own pay raises.
This group of medical professionals and students shared that they are offended at how they would receive raises when nurses and patients are struggling.
In the public letter it says: “These increases are all the more shocking because our nurses, clerks and other professionals face very difficult working conditions, while our patients live with the lack of access to required services because of the drastic cuts in recent years and the centralization of power in the Ministry of Health,”
“We believe that there is a way to redistribute the resources of the Quebec health system to promote the health of the population and meet the needs of patients without pushing workers to the end,” the letter says. With that, more than 650 who signed the letter are asking for the money used for their raises to be given back to the system instead.
In comparison with the recent new in Singapore where insurance agents want all patients to pay part of hospital pay, this is a huge shock. Will Singapore Medical professionals be willing to do the same?
