A crayfish’s brave escape from a boiling hotpot was caught on video and circulated all over Chinese social media.

User Jiuke who post the video was having hotpot at a restaurant where he ordered a serving of live crayfish. When one of the crayfish slowly crawled out of the boiling pot, it caught his attention. What follows next was a sheer determination to survive as the crayfish detached its left claw to free the rest if it’s body from the stew.

The act of the crayfish was not in vain as Jiuke took the crayfish home and is currently raising it in an aquarium.

Crayfish in known to be able to lose their claws several times and grow them back. That probably means more crayfish claws for Jiuke?
